Wing Commander (Dr) Angeline Lewis
Wing Commander (Dr) Angeline Lewis is currently the Deputy Director – Air Force at the Centre for Defence Leadership and Ethics, Australian Defence College. She joined the Royal Australian Navy as a Legal Officer in 2003, and transferred to the Royal Australian Air Force in the same role in 2014. She has served in a variety of legal roles during her career, including in Defence Legal Division and the Office of the Chief of the Defence Force. She has deployed five times on active service, beginning in Iraq in 2007 and culminating most recently in service as the Force Gender and Protection Advisor to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. Wing Commander Lewis holds doctorates in international law and in sea power history, and has previously taught international law part-time at the Australian National University College of Law. She was the inaugural Minister for Defence’s Fellow for Women, Peace and Security at UNSW (ADFA) in 2018-19.
