ICPC Panel Discussion: Australian perspectives on encryption
Speakers: ICPC Panel
The abrupt end of the Apple-FBI encryption standoff promises to be a short lived intermission in a long and difficult discussion between governments, society and business on how to balance the personal privacy, consumer confidence, public safety and national security considerations of encryption technology.
ASPI’s International Cyber Policy Centre is seeking to facilitate a dialogue between key stakeholders to develop a constructive discussion in Australia on this important issue. To begin this conversation, the ICPC are hosting a panel discussion to discuss views on how government, society and business can balance encryption’s positive and negative effects.
Panel members include:
- Thomas Daeman. Director Corporate, External and Legal Affairs, Microsoft Australia/NZ
- Robert Morrish. Chief Executive Officer, Haventec
- Neil Gaughan. A/Deputy Commissioner National Security, Australian Federal Police
Moderated by: Dr Tobias Feakin, Director, ASPI International Cyber Policy Centre.
