Biography
Raelene Lockhorst is the Deputy Director of the Professional Development Centre. Raelene has a distinguished career that spans more than 25-years in the public and private sectors in Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, and London.
Most recently, Raelene has held strategic roles in private sector consulting firms where she focussed on working with government to shape, fund and implement complex infrastructure projects across the Defence, Health and Arts/Cultural sectors.
Raelene’s Defence career included financial and project management roles in major acquisition projects, and key roles in the Defence Security Authority where she was responsible for developing and executing bilateral international security agreements, oversighting the Defence Industrial Security Program, providing representation at senior interdepartmental committees, and representing the security interests of the Australian Government in negotiations with foreign governments and commercial companies.
During her time in Defence, Raelene served as an Officer Cadet in the Australian Army Reserves and was awarded an Australian Service Medal for a peace keeping deployment as part of Operation Bel-Isi in Bougainville (PNG).
Raelene is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds post graduate qualifications in Professional Communication, International Relations, Security Risk Management and Defence Studies.
