Biography
Levi J. West is the Director of Terrorism Studies at Charles Sturt University, and the Executive Director of Leviathan Analysis.
His PhD research focuses on understanding the strategic logic of terrorism, and has developed a conceptual framework for understanding how terrorism achieves strategic effects. His broader research interests relate to the intersection of information and communications technology with terrorism and non-state violence, strategies of terrorism, innovations in terrorist violence, and extreme ideologies.
He has lectured extensively to law enforcement, intelligence, policy, and military audiences both domestically and internationally, including at the Naval War College in the US, the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation in Indonesia, and the Australian Command and Staff College and National Security College. Levi is a sought after speaker on terrorism and other national security issues. He currently manages the Masters of Terrorism and Security Studies program at the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security, at Charles Sturt University’s Canberra campus and delivers a broad range of professional development training and consulting to an array of government agencies and private sector clients.
