Biography

Joshua Dunne was a researcher at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute until 2023.

In 2022, Joshua completed the ASPI Research Internship, where he conducted research into both the PRC’s influence operations in the Pacific and Sino-Russian economic ties, under the direction of Blake Johnson and Michael Shoebridge. Prior to this, Joshua’s was awarded a 2019 Postgraduate Fulbright scholarship to support his completion of a MA in Security Studies at Georgetown University in Washington DC. At Georgetown, Joshua concentrated in intelligence analysis with a thematic focus on disinformation and a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa.

Joshua holds a Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) from the University of Western Australia, where he majored in Political Science, International Relations and Business Law.  His undergraduate dissertation centred around a comparative analysis of the evolution of French and Chinese spheres of influence in the Maghreb, under the supervision of Dr David Mickler.
