Biography
Ian Satchwell is an Adjunct Professor at the Sustainable Minerals Institute of The University of Queensland. His focus areas include global investment by Australian minerals companies, Australia’s role in building secure and sustainable critical minerals supply chains, governance of mining at home and abroad, and infrastructure policy for regional areas.
Ian has more than three decades of experience in minerals and energy, investment and trade, regional economic development and infrastructure in Northern Australia, Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America. He has worked with companies, business associations, NGOs, governments and universities.
Voluntary roles have included positions as National President of the Australia Indonesia Business Council, Director of the Australian Services Roundtable, Board Member of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia and Associate Member of the Business Advisory Council to the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
Ian is currently a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Canadian Northern Corridor project, bringing to bear experience in development of Northern Australia.
