Huon Curtis was an Analyst and Project Manager with ASPI’s International Cyber Policy Centre until Jan 2023.
Between 2015-2020, he worked in the education sector including at the University of Sydney Business School; the Centre for Business and Social Innovation (UTS); the United States Study Centre and Department of Political Economy, Sydney. In 2012, he was a Visiting Fellow at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung - WZB Berlin.
His research explores the social and economic implications of new technology, particularly artificial intelligence. His research offers new ways to understand and respond to the workforce challenges posed by new technologies, with a particular focus on productivity, skills development and economic policy.
Dr. Curtis holds a PhD in Political Economy from the University of Sydney (2016) and a Bachelor of Economics and Social Sciences with First Class Honours. He has taught extensively with a particular focus on US economic policy. He has delivered research to a range inter-government stakeholders including the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and Eurofound, as well as national and state agencies including the Workplace Gender Equality Agency and NSW Department of Industry and the NSW Teachers’ Federation.
