The Australian Strategic Policy Institute is pleased to announce that our annual defence conference, ‘JoiningFORCES’, will be held on 4-5 June 2024 in Canberra.
Explore the full agenda here.
The JoiningFORCES conference will explore ways to bridge national and international boundaries to deliver more joint, collective and effective defence. Speakers and participants will consider new ways to align strategy, capability and industry, and to drive more potent collaboration between those who plan our defence, those who deliver the kit and those who achieve the effects.
It will also bring together government ministers, senior defence officials, leading industry figures, and international experts across the two-day event and formal dinner. We will explore questions related to defence funding, including by leveraging private capital into the defence enterprise. Our program will focus strongly on the deterrence challenge for Australia, for the region and for our global partners, with an emphasis on stimulating conversations and insights that can shape and influence policy.
This year’s event will break new ground. We will use collaborative wargaming and scenario exercise techniques to generate insights on enhancing regional deterrence. Our focus will be on strategic and operational level challenges and will consider the vital role of industry in delivering capability at the speed needed to meet the strategic threats Australia faces. This element of the conference is highly interactive, with a facilitated discussion that draws on the perspectives of participants. Plausible scenarios will be used to provide a context for detailed discussions that reach outcomes and conclusions about how national and international actors can work together to better assess regional deterrence dynamics and develop options to enhance deterrence. This day will feature experts with deep and diverse experience in the development of policy, capability, operational and industry needs.
We will challenge traditional thinking and engage participants on our most pressing defence and national security problems.
Cost (GST included):
$2200
Please note, this is an in-person only event. Ticket purchases include admission to both days of the event as well as a formal dinner to be hosted on Tuesday 4 June from 6:30pm – 9:30pm, with a special keynote speaker.
