Cyber, Technology and Security Developments in China: Expert Panel Discussion

Please join ASPI’s International Cyber Policy Centre (ICPC) for a special China panel discussion.

This panel will tackle some of the most important cyber, technology and security developments occurring in China and assess their international implications. From the country’s emerging Social Credit System, the use of Artificial Intelligence and surveillance technology, Internet censorship, big data to the global expansion of China’s giant Internet and tech companies. The panel includes:

  • Dr Samantha Hoffman, Visiting Academic Fellow at the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) in Berlin and a research consultant at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in the UK;
  • Lotus Ruan, Research Fellow, Citizen Lab, Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto;
  • Elsa Kania, Adjunct Fellow in the Technology and National Security Program at the Center for a New American Security and ASPI ICPC non-resident fellow

Upcoming ASPI ICPC research papers, authored by some of these panelists, will also be launched and available at this event.

A drinks reception will conclude the event.
