ASPI Webinar: WPS in 2020 - Progressing implementation at a time of global uncertainty
Speakers Genevieve Feely, Lisa Sharland, Renata Dwan, Dr Anu Mundkur and Amy Haddad
ASPI is delighted to invite you to the webinar ‘WPS in 2020: Progressing implementation at a time of global uncertainty’.
This year represents a significant milestone for the women, peace and security agenda as it marks 20 years since its adoption by the UN Security Council. Since 2017, ASPI has run an annual series in The Strategist which examines different aspects of the women, peace and security agenda. This anniversary represents an opportunity to examine how collective commitments on WPS are translated into concrete action, both domestically and internationally.
Join panellists Renata Dwan, Amy Haddad, Dr. Anu Mundkur and Lisa Sharland, for a discussion moderated by Genevieve Feely about current implementation of the women, peace and security agenda, particularly in the context of a year dominated by crises. What does the Covid-19 crisis mean for the 20th anniversary of the WPS agenda and how can implementation and institutionalisation continue during this period of uncertainty and instability?
This event is brought to you by ASPI’s Women in Defence and Security Network (WDSN). The WDSN’s primary aim is to provide a forum to support the career development of women in the defence and security community in Australia, and to facilitate critical discussion around issues related to women’s participation and gender perspectives in the context of defence, national security and foreign policy.
