ASPI Report Launch: 'Safety in numbers - Australia’s private security guard force and counter-terrorism'
Speakers Linda Reynolds, Mr Bryan de Caires and Anthony Bergin
ASPI warmly invites you to attend the launch of its latest Special Report: ‘Safety in numbers: Australia’s private security guard force and counter-terrorism’ by Dr Anthony Bergin, Donald Williams and Christopher Dixon.
This report identifies the role of the private security sector in countering hostile threats—including terrorism—and the functions that the sector does or could provide in critical incidents and national CT planning. The report recommends a new Security Industry Authority, a statutory body under the responsibility to the Department of Home Affairs, be created to enhance national CT capability. The report is the result of extensive stakeholder discussions in the public and private sectors.
This Special Report will be launched by Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC, Assistant Minister for Home Affairs, followed by a moderated Q&A with the report author, Dr Anthony Bergin, and CEO of the Australian Security Industry Association, Mr Bryan de Caires. A drinks and canape reception will conclude the event.
