Philomena Murray is Professor in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne.
She holds Australia’s only Personal Jean Monnet Chair ad personam. She has directed several international research projects on EU-Asia relations, as the recipient of EU grants. She received a national award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning for pioneering the first EU curriculum in Australia and leadership in national and international curriculum development. She founded the Contemporary European Studies Association of Australia.
Prof Murray holds honorary positions at Trinity College Dublin; the College of Europe, Bruges and UNU-CRIS (United Nations University – Comparative Regional Integration Studies), Bruges. She is Vice-Chair of the Board of the International Political Science Association Research Committee on European Unification. She has written extensively on EU-Australia relations; comparative regional integration; EU-Asia relations and EU governance and legitimacy.
