Biography
Jemima Garrett is freelance journalist/media trainer and communications consultant specialising in the Pacific.
She has more than 3 decades experience reporting on the region for the ABC, including seven years as South Pacific Correspondent and almost 20 years as the Radio Australia Pacific Economic and Business reporter.
During that time, she also led journalism and communications training in the Australia and Pacific including journalism workshops at the Pacific Islands Forum and other regional and international meetings. Ms Garrett is author of ‘Island Exiles’, a history of the Nauruans during World War II, and was a columnist for Pacific Islands Monthly magazine. In 2013 she won the Citijournalism Broadcast Media Award for business reporting in Australia and New Zealand and the United Nations Association of Australia Award for Best Radio documentary. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney with majors in economics and government.
