Arzan Tarapore is the South Asia research scholar at Stanford University’s Asia-Pacific Research Center. His academic research focuses on Indian foreign and defence policy, and regional security issues in the Indo-Pacific. He leads Stanford's South Asia Initiative, which focuses on the impact of key technologies on Indian security and US-India relations. He has previously held research and teaching positions at Georgetown University, the National Bureau of Asian Research, the RAND Corporation, the East-West Center, and the Observer Research Foundation. Prior to his academic career, Arzan served in the Australian Defence Department for 13 years, which included operational deployments and a diplomatic posting to Washington DC. He holds a PhD in war studies from Kings College London.
