Biography
Dr Anu Mundkur is Senior Practice Advisor at Our Watch.
Dr Anu Mundkur has extensive practical experience in the fields of international relations (particular focus on human security), gender and development. Her areas of expertise include women peace and security; feminist approaches to international relations; gender and international aid. She has over fifteen years of professional experience, including nearly ten years working, in different roles, on gender projects funded by the Commonwealth of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australia Aid).
Currently, Anu is Senior Practice Advisor, a national organisation focussed on the primary prevention of violence against women. Prior to joining Our Watch, she was the the head if the gender unit at CARE Australia. Anu was seconded from Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) to the Australian Civil-Military Centre (ACMC) in 2017. Her role involved supporting the development of national capabilities to prevent, prepare for and respond more effectively to humanitarian crises overseas, by providing expert advice on gendered responses to humanitarian crises and facilitating NGO contributions to civil-military training, education, research, lessons management and preparedness.
In recognition of her leadership in advocating for gender equality, in 2015, Anuradha was inducted into South Australia’s Women’s Honour Roll, which each year recognises 30 women in State who promote an inclusive community based on principles of equality, peace and justice. In 2016 she served as one of the NGO representatives on the Australian Government Delegation to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (60th Session).
