Clare O’Neill is an Australian Army officer; currently on military leave studying economics from the University of London. 

Clare has been the Chief of Army Scholar and a Fulbright Scholar at Georgetown University, and member of the Australian Command and Staff College Art of War program. Clare is the founder and editor of Grounded Curiosity, a professional military education website, and founder of the Defence Entrepreneurs Forum Australia, an innovation forum for junior leaders. 

Clare has had a broad range of roles as a Royal Australian Engineer with operational and command experience in Afghanistan, Indonesia, Republic of Korea and Papua New Guinea. Her roles have included Deputy Director of the Chief of Army’s Initiatives Group, Deputy Director Joint Concepts, Military Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Army, an Officer Commanding at the 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment, an Officer Commanding at the Royal Military College - Duntroon, Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General, Operations Officer at Headquarters 1st Division and Adjutant at 6th Engineer Support Regiment. 

Clare is a Chartered Professional Engineer, Engineers Australia Fellow, Military Writers Guild Member and Australian American Leadership Dialogue YLD Alumni. Clare holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), Master of Arts (International Relations) and Master of Military and Defence Studies.
