Outreach Program

One of the most important roles for ASPI is to involve the broader community in the debate of defence and security issues. The thrust of the activities will be to provide access to the issues and facts through a range of activities and publications.

Outreach Dialogues

We have begun a series of discussions with small groups around Australia with a view to furthering our charter:

To widen the Defence debate in Australia
To reach audiences who hitherto have been unaffected or outside the sphere of the debate
To form partnerships which help in disseminating information about the Defence debate
To capture data which would inform current and future ASPI research

The ASPI dialogues as we are calling them are intended to reach out to seek the advice of informed Australians on a number of topics that are vital to the safety, security and progress of this country.

Defence and Security are daunting issues for those who are not experts in the field, and the idea is to take the myth out of the expertise and inform and canvas the views of a wider audience, using the knowledge and experience of ASPI researchers as a catalyst.

We intend to hold two sessions a day at each of our venues with topics that we believe are thought-provoking and appealing.
