Pay Your Money & Take Your Pick: Defence Spending Choices for Australia

This year the Government will spend $15.4 billion on Defence which amounts to 1.9% of GDP. Should we be spending more or less than this? The only way to know is to see what impact more or less spending would have on the capabilities of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the military tasks they can undertake. After all, it's what you get for the money that matters, not how much you spend. To this end Mark Thomson examined five different options for future defence spending.
